Education and Specialty

Chris Irwin is a board-certified Advanced Practice Nurse in adult psychiatry at Georgia Behavioral Health Professionals in the Cumming location. Chris has been working as Psychiatric-Mental Health APRN, BC since 2008 with the collaboration of Dr. Barry Jones providing individual therapy, medication management and psychiatric evaluation for mental health and addiction clients. Her interests lie in treating depression, co-morbid psychiatric and physical illnesses, and managing professional life with family life and stress management. Chris graduated from University of Tennessee Center for the Health Science with a Master's of Science in Community Mental Health Nursing. She has worked in the clinical practice of mental health and psychiatric treatment as a Master's Level Practitioner since 1977 and certified as a Mental Health CNS by ANA since 1983.

  • Developed and practiced Psychiatric Home Health Services at Vanderbilt Home Health in Nashville, Tennessee

Awards, Services, Honors

Chris was awarded Cum Laude in 1977 and is a current member of Sigma Theta Tau honorary nursing sorority. She was the previous Vice President of the Metro Atlanta Advance Practice Group. Chris served as VP of MAAPPNG (Moving Ahead with Psychiatric Nursing in North Georgia). In addition, Chris was selected outstanding Employee of the year for Vanderbilt Home Health 1994 CNS for outpatient psychiatry, V A Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee Private Psychiatric Practice, Memphis, Tennessee.

Chris has a long history of nursing practice in psychiatry to include inpatient, outpatient, psychiatric home care and psychiatric crisis stabilization.

Fun Facts

Chris is married with twins in their 30's. In her spare time, Chris sings in the church choir, gardening, movies, and music.
