Crystal Nelson is a licensed psychiatrist at Georgia Behavioral Health Professionals in Peachtree City, Georgia. Dr. Nelson is a graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. She earned her Doctorate of Medicine degree from Morehouse School of Medicine and completed her psychiatry residency at Virginia Commonwealth University from Emory University. Dr. Nelson also has additional experience in Geriatric Psychiatry from Emory University and training in the use of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation in the treatment of severe depression. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Dr. Nelson is also a member of professional organizations including the American Psychiatric Association and the Georgia Psychiatric Physicians Association.
Medical and Therapeutic Services
Patients visiting Dr. Nelson can receive a full range of psychiatric services. She provides initial psychiatric evaluation, medication management/review, tele-psychiatry, supportive therapy, cognitive therapy and general consultation. She offers transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to patients when medication management has not been the solution for those dealing with major depressive disorder. Dr. Nelson is committed to educating patients about their mental health and empowering them in the healing process. In addition to medication management, her training in life experience has provided her the tools to help individuals and families cope with significant life changes such as trauma, illness, and grief. Dr. Nelson approaches each patient with patience, warmth, and understanding. Her pleasant approach and helpful explanations facilitate treatment and give her patients a sense of comfort and trust.
